The test can be done on paper in any centre, but some locations offer to take it on a computer as well. You should plan your visit for no later than one hour before the centre closes, otherwise there will not be enough time for the document check and testing procedures. The G1 test will assess your knowledge of traffic signs and road rules -- those are the two sections comprising the test. You are allowed to make 4 mistakes in each section, to still be able to pass the test. I passed my test at the Wyecroft location back in October, exactly as ronbag listed except I didn't need to parallel park. I was instructed to do a roadside stop on Grand Oak Trail, then nearly immediately turn left onto Blue Holly Crescent to make a 3-point turn.
The entire route I was following a Prius also doing her test and she was instructed the same. I found it strange as I heard of a lot of people having to parallel park and that was the only thing I consciously practiced the day before as I hadn't needed to do it since my G2 test. Yeah, my G test at Oakville was essentially the same. I just did it today March 26th, I thought I'd leave how exactly my test went.
