I'll mark it solved. Good Afternoon wilnotlendpc, I had a bit of a look on the net and your problem appears to happen frequently with XP. Many posts are adamant the correct drivers are in XP and operate without problem without having to load any other drivers. So the first question is did you attempt to load any other printer drivers before this problem happened? This may have created an incorrect association. Second question have you attempted to force windows to load a specific driver that you wanted it to load without letting it make it's own choice?

This will force an association. It is interesting to see that there are two drivers in the XP database for your HP So before throwing in the towel it may be worthwhile trying to manually load a few different drivers. You are quite sure the printer is fully functional? You would have to laugh the module for your printer is even in my Puppy Linux system, so it must have been quite a common printer and there must be a way to make it work in a crummy Windows XP system!
